bitRipper 1.31 is a free DVD to AVI converter.
It allows you to back-up your DVD's as AVI files on the hard drive, that you can later share over Internet.
bitRipper converts video on-the-fly, copying data and writing it to AVI file at the same time.
When you launch the program, it will look in your DVD a track to rip. Then, it will show you in which drive did it found any trak, and its length.
You can the choose the track to rip, and where to save the resulting AVI. To begin the rip, all you need to to is to press the "Start Ripping" button.
You can choose to alter some settings before ripping the track, pressing the "Settings" button.
You will then be able to change the codec that you will use in your video (Cinepak Codec, Intel Indeo, Microsoft Video, Indeo Video, DivX 6.8, Helix YV12, ffdshow, MPEG-4 V1, V2 and V3, XviD MPEG-4 or uncompressed video). With the Configure button you can configure the chosen codec.
You will also be able to change the aspect ratio, resolution and size of the resulting video.
The same can be done with the audio: you can choose which format to use and configure the chosen one.
